Women's teams contribute to their athletic departments

What percentage of income that women's teams contribute to their athletic departments?

According to the financial data that the universities must file with the Department of federal education, Division institutions had income by a total of $ 8.7 million over the 2009-2010 academic year. 55 Per cent of the income generated by men's teams, women's teams, 15 per cent and an additional 30 per cent of income was not allocated by genre or sport. And, as pointed out by many readers, football and basketball are normally the teams only generating a benefit: sports most other men also lose money.

This poses a difficult dilemma for many athletic programs. It is necessary to continue to provide generous support to the teams that generate income of the majority for the Department, especially at this juncture. However, the sports departments are not nonprofit entities, and, in fact, only a small minority breaks even financially, the most dependent on grants from the University. More athletic directors have spoken to say that your program's mission is not to generate a profit but to provide a quality experience to all men and women who compete in teams, regardless of whether teams turn a profit or not.
